Welcome to Lakeview Elementary
Welcome to Lakeview Elementary!
Founded 1994
Lakeview Elementary School is a partnership of students, families, staff and community committed to excellence and life long learning. We believe the success of our students depends on all of us working together as a team: students, classroom teachers, support staff, administration and parents.
Lakeview Elementary School is located on Lake Marion in Lakeville, Minnesota – a suburb of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Lakeview Elementary School is a K-5 neighborhood school with about 600 students.
Lakeview’s demographics has changed over the past few years. At the present time 7 percent of our students qualify for free or reduced priced meals, 90 percent of our students are white, 10 percent are diverse, 11 percent of our students receive English as a Second Language services and approximately 14 percent of our students have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Due to our demographic changes, we have made tweaks to our “system” in hopes of meeting the needs of ALL of our students.
We depend on data to help make good instructional decisions. Grade level teams and other support staff meet weekly during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to discuss student data. As part of Lakeview’s Response to Intervention (RTI) implementation, all students (K-5) are administered a universal CBM screening in Early Literacy and/or Reading three times a year. (September, January, and May). After each screening, students who do not meet the benchmark target are identified to be progress monitored on a weekly basis. Grade level teams (along with the support of our Sped team, tutors and learning specialist) continue to meet on a weekly basis to analyze progress monitor data to determine what interventions should continue and which interventions need to be changed. Student intervention groups are also re-grouped (when scheduling permits) during these meetings.
All Lakeview Elementary School students grades 2-5 take the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) three times per year. Classroom teachers with support from our Sped team, tutors and learning specialist use the data to develop goals and make good instructional decisions. The data is useful in planning instruction for specific strands in the reading and math curriculum. The MAP data is used to measure student growth during the academic school year as well as from one school year to the next.
The summative data gathered from the MCA-IIs is used to set building S.M.A.R.T. goals, report to the public, guide professional development and identify students for interventions or rigorous support.
Lakeview Elementary School staff are truly honored to have the opportunity to work with kids. All of our staff members take the role of teaching very seriously and ultimately want to do what is best for kids. Please contact our school at 952-232-2600 if you have any questions.
